For the Castellis, authentic Italian cuisine runs as deep as their Sicilian roots.

Beginning with a Brooklyn pizzeria in 1957, the family has owned restaurants since they came to America. Seven years ago, the family torch was passed down to Fabrizio, who opened Primo Piatto in Huntington. Fabrizio’s children Francesco and Ariana have gained their own experience in the high end restaurant business, working in cities like Manhattan and Miami. Recently, they decided to add their own chapter to the family legacy.

Two months ago, Francesco and Ariana opened Locale in Patchogue with their father, Fabrizio. They have had their eye on the  location in Patchogue for 8 years, but were waiting for the right time. Now, Patchogue Village is booming and the Castellis have another mark to make on New York.

The Concept

Locale is a trendy new Italian gastro pub located in the heart of downtown Patchogue, offering a unique spin on authentic Italian cuisine. The Castellis wanted to blend the old with the new, mixing classic dishes with the latest in fine dining.

There are many Italian restaurants on Long Island, but only a few that can claim to be authentic. Locale was born out of a desire to infuse authentic cuisine with a modern dining experience. It is a present-day representation of the rich culture that runs through their veins.

The Atmosphere

The space is intimate, offering a classy change up from the usual crowds. It’s perfect for people looking to skip the rowdy bar scene for an exclusive cocktail and a conversation.

On the weekends, Locale has live music ranging from acoustic to jazz. The restaurant combines quality service with chill vibes to create a unique escape from the bustle of Main Street.

Out with friends? The long, rustic wood table overlooking the large windows facing Main Street is the best spot in the house. Out on a date? The setting is ripe for romance. Drink by candlelight while basking in the savory aroma of brick oven pizza.

What’s on the Menu

Using some of the delicious recipes found at Primo Piatto, Francesco created a menu of popular Italian staples. The meatballs have been perfected over generations of Castelli cooking. They’ve already made an impression on Long Island; For the last 5 years, Primo Piatto has developed a reputation for having the best meatballs in Huntington.

The traditional Italian entrees are delicious and authentic, but the brick oven pizzas are the town favorite. Every pizza comes personal sized, with a crust cooked to perfection in the beautiful brick oven behind the bar. Ordering a pizza is hard to resist while you are sitting at the bar enjoying a craft cocktail.
